Twr Mynach 1880 to 2020
Escape to Twr Mynach your beautifully restored vintage Guest House Bed & Breakfast in Barmouth, Gwynedd, resting within the south west corner of Snowdonia National Park.
Twr Mynach (Monk Tower) is a unique gem of a guest house overlooking Barmouth at the foot of Brynn Mynach.
Getaways at Twr Mynach offer the best of both worlds – the fun and beauty of the picturesque beach, surrounded by local shops and cafes, and the dramatic mountain walks of Snowdonia all on your doorstep.
It’s a serious space that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Part of the former Tower House School built around 1880 in an arts and crafts style lovingly brought back to life like a mini Welsh gothic castle!
Our emphasis is to provide a peaceful but playful environment with a friendly relaxed vintage vibe.
Both our rooms offer panoramic sea views and have their own individual outside terrace from the tower terrace to a castle rampart.
All our bed linen and towels are responsibly sourced organic cotton.
Our toiletries and cleaning products are environmentally friendly with no nasty chemicals. Not a whiff of single use plastics as we love our ocean.
It’s a challenge with historic buildings but we believe in running an eco friendly sustainable establishment. Our electricity is supplied by 100% green energy and we pay the extra to carbon offset 100% of our gas.
Your hosts Henrietta (Henri) and Pavlos come from a design background and have a love of unusual buildings – our previous project was the restoration of an old Cotswold stone tailors’ shop in Gloucestershire.
Back in late 2018 it was time for a change and a new project by the sea beckoned, in a moment of excitement we discovered and fell in love with Twr Mynach. So with our friendly rescue dog Zelda in hand we moved to Barmouth.
A year of blood, sweat and the occasional tear was spent painstakingly restoring the old Tower House School back to its former glory.
We look forward to welcoming you to a truly wonderful place.
